Beliefs & Affiliation

Holmes Presbyterian Church is part of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), a denomination rooted in the Reformed tradition and guided by the belief that Jesus Christ alone is Lord of the Church.

We affirm the historic creeds and confessions of the Reformed faith, including the Apostles’ Creed, which we recite together in worship as a statement of shared belief. At Holmes, we believe:

God’s grace is freely offered to all people.

Worship is the heart of our life together.

Faith grows through study, prayer, service, and community.

The church is called to love its neighbors—near and far—through compassion & action.

We are a member of the Presbytery of Eastern Virginia, the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic, and the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

These connections allow us to join with other congregations in mission, education, and outreach across our region and around the world.
